Mr. Shin was born in Uiseong, North Gyeongsang Province, in 1933. He received a Ph.D in literature from Dankook University. He debuted by winning the Chosun Ilbo Spring Literary Contest in 1959 for a children’s poem. He has published more than twenty children’s poetry collections including Aginun (Baby’s Eyes), Goguryeo-ai(Child of Goguryeo), and Salgussi-myeotman-nyeon (Tens of Thousands of Years of the Apricot Seed).
Mr. Shin received the Bang Jeong-hwan Literature Award, the Yi Ju-hong Children’s Literature Award, and the Yun Dong-ju Literature Award.
Hansa Christian Andersen
Mr. Won was born in Hwanghae Province and received his undergraduate degree from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Korea University. His writing career was launched when his works Sanmune-deuleo (Entering the Buddhist Temple) and Dalbam (Moonlit Night) received recommendations in Sijo Munhak in 1981. He is currentlya member of the Korean Writers’ Association and the Research Society of Korean Children’s Literature. He also published a poetry book entitled Badaga-gichimeul-haneunji-eojjeoneunji (Maybe the Sea Is Coughing or Something).
